Draft #1

We got a version 1.0 of our version of the Brightwater II plan. It’s exciting to see our names on a draft building plan that represents our house. Seeing it on paper makes this whole process seem much more real for some reason. I think it’s because it’s something real, something we can hold, something that moves it one step forward.

It’s not a perfect version. We did have a few adjustments and notes we will be writing up and sending back to them to adjust on the plan. When she sent over the first draft of the plan, she also said that next up was starting to think about the exterior and the lower level. We thought about it and put together a list of our basement needs and sent it over. Some of the things in our list include

  • Lower level bedroom or office space
  • Half bath
  • Living room space for movies
  • No kitchenette (which seems to have become very popular)
  • Photography studio space
  • Unfinished work shop area connected to the stairs to the basement from the garage

For the exterior, she said the best thing to do is put some photo’s together of things we like (and don’t like) as we see other new model homes in subdivisions and they can use that as a basis for a starting point.
