The past couple of weekends have been spent driving around new subdivisions to look at exterior elements and styles to take some notes on what we like and don’t like. We want a craftsman look and feel to the exterior but with some of our own take on it. Here’s a bit of the list that we sent over to Victory Homes.

General Items:

• Porch columns should be straight with no tapering to them from top to bottom
• Porch columns should be all wood with no large stone base
• An accent arch near any peaks
• Window sills and exterior molding that extends past the side trim
• James Hardie siding in evening blue or ages pewter

Windows:

• Black windows for the exterior
• No grills in the windows

Stone Work:

• Similar colors/color pallet. No large color variations.
• Minimal depth variation to the stone
• Multiple sizes, all straight edges

Having sent those details over to them, now we wait while the designers put together a first draft of the exterior plan, as well as a lower level.
