Making the Cut

So we’ve been looking long and hard at the pricing for the house, and here’s some of the things that we’re keeping and will have to be let go.

Keeping

  • Zip-R Sheathing: We decided to keep this one because in the long run it makes the house more energy efficient and will in turn reduce the utility expenses for the house.
  • Under Basement Slab Insulation: We’re keeping this one so that the basement floor will stay warmer. We spend a lot of time down enjoying our lower level, and imagine we’ll do the same in the new house, so we wanted that little benefit.

Saying Good Bye To

  • Extra large garage
  • Finished basement (the basement plumbing rough in will still happen though)
  • 3 Season porch

It was tough making those choices, but it was what had to be done. Basically we chose to priortize the things that would hard, or impossible, to do once the house was done.
