Now that paperwork is signed, and permitting has happened, it’s time for the excitement to start. Or at least the first round of it. The house has all been staked out and the top soil has been scraped off and is now neatly piled where it will sit until the house is done. Each of the pink flags marks a spot or corner of something in the foundation wall. Next week they are supposed to start the actual foundation digging. Hopefully we’ll be able to catch that.

On other fronts, we’ve been continuing on the selections process. We’ve started to move on from cabinets and counters to some of the other selections such as flooring. Flooring is the first major selection that has to be checked off and finalized because it affects framing because of different floor thicknesses to make sure that all transitions are smooth. Seems weird to have to start thinking about that when there’s not even really a hole in the ground yet.
