Ding Goes the Pricing

We should be getting pricing back any day now. When they do the first round of pricing, they also have the cabinet folks provide a full set of renderings as part of that process. So that adds a few days to the process. Once we get the pricing back, we’ll meet with our sales professional

Let the Pricing Begin!

Now that we’ve gotten to the point where the plan is fairly stable, and the estimators can begin work on the overall cost for the house. We know that the base price for the model we chose is $510,000. So the real question is how much does our basement and all our other changes come

Basement Draft

The week ended with a lovely first stab at a basement layout for us. Much like the exterior draft, we did have some changes and modifications. We really weren’t sure how to best arrange the basement, so having them do it first gave us a good starting point. Once we had that, we could better

Exterior Drafts

Today we got back a first draft of the exterior of the house. We liked the majority of how it looked. We did have some suggestions though which we sent back to the builder to make a version 2.0. Below are the elevations and also the notes we sent back. Front Elevation Changes:*Change the front

Exteriors Galore

The past couple of weekends have been spent driving around new subdivisions to look at exterior elements and styles to take some notes on what we like and don’t like. We want a craftsman look and feel to the exterior but with some of our own take on it. Here’s a bit of the list

4 Corners and a Meeting

This weekend, we had a meeting at the Ripplebrook lot with one of the Victory Homes site managers and a survey company. We were meeting to do a 4-corner stake out on the lot. Basically, it’s taking the 4 main corners of the house and placing them on the lot where they would be and

Draft #2

We got back a version 2.0 of our first floor plan taking into account the minor changes and notes that we had sent over, and everything looks good. We did some adjustments with the stairs from garage to the basement, the garage itself, the master closet, and a few tweaks in the kitchen. The more

Lot Walk

This weekend, we did a walk of a lot in Ripplebrook West which is down in Big Bend. There are only about 13 lots total in this subdivision. The lot is about an acre and a quarter, and is a new, small subdivision. The subdivision seems nice. It’s nothing big or fancy. It would only

Draft #1

We got a version 1.0 of our version of the Brightwater II plan. It’s exciting to see our names on a draft building plan that represents our house. Seeing it on paper makes this whole process seem much more real for some reason. I think it’s because it’s something real, something we can hold, something

3 Becomes 1

We had an opportunity to meet with our home consultant and talk through our three favorite plans and what we liked about each and didn’t like about each. We spent about two hours looking at al the plans and nit-picking all the details in them. It was a very good use of the time though.
